Showcasing the energy behind iconic events and venues

Our work with INK Entertainment was about more than simply covering well-known venues and festivals; it was an opportunity to understand how distinct atmospheres come to life. From Toronto’s Toybox and Rebel to the immersive experiences at festivals like Veld and Solaris, we saw firsthand the importance of visual storytelling in capturing a venue’s identity.

Working on these projects encouraged us to refine our narrative techniques and build a stronger creative toolkit. We experimented with animated sequences, dynamic editing, and strategic use of sound. By exploring these elements, we ensured each final product didn’t just document an event, it conveyed the energy, scale, and excitement that made each gathering special. This experience underscored MAFIC’s commitment to adapting to different client needs and delivering content that resonates long after the event is over.

Raquel Wekerle

Raquel Wekerle at El Mocambo

Raquel Wekerle’s music videos, “Nobody Knows” and “With You,” were brought to life in the legendary El Mocambo Theatre in Toronto. With a rich history of hosting icons like The Rolling Stones, the venue became an integral part of the visual storytelling. Using RED Gemini and RED Komodo cameras, we created a warm, intimate aesthetic that paired perfectly with Raquel’s soulful sound. The dim lighting and vintage décor of the venue complemented her emotionally resonant performances, creating a captivating mix of nostalgia and modern artistry. Each frame was crafted to highlight both the charm of the space and Raquel’s powerful presence.

A Fall/Winter 2024 story

When confronted with over 60 new looks to showcase in a single shoot, our aim wasn’t just to present clothing, it was to capture the mindset behind the collection. Each piece had a reason for being there, whether it offered a fresh take on denim, introduced unexpected pairings, or challenged traditional styling norms. Our approach involved thoughtful staging, lighting that emphasized texture and detail, and direction that encouraged models to move naturally, bringing the garments’ personalities to the forefront. The result was more than a lookbook; it was a cohesive visual story that reinforced the brand’s identity and values. Instead of treating each look as a standalone image, we wove them together, ensuring that viewers left with a clear impression of what the collection stood for. This perspective mirrors MAFIC’s broader philosophy: every piece of content is an opportunity to communicate purpose, vision, and atmosphere.
