Documenting a bold transformation

Kollar Clothing’s journey to re-emerge as David Kollar marks a significant shift for a brand known for its distinct style and meticulous craftsmanship. Since 2018, we’ve witnessed their ongoing evolution, and now our role is to create a documentary that chronicles this transition. Rather than just announcing a name change, we’re illustrating how a brand adapts in a landscape driven by creativity, authenticity, and meaningful engagement with its audience.

This project allows us to highlight the vision behind David Kollar, revealing what sets it apart and how it plans to resonate in an ever-evolving fashion world. By showing the process, the people, and the reasoning behind strategic choices, we’re capturing a narrative that explores the intersection of innovation, heritage, and the desire to continuously refine a brand’s identity.

Raquel Wekerle

Raquel Wekerle at El Mocambo

Raquel Wekerle’s music videos, “Nobody Knows” and “With You,” were brought to life in the legendary El Mocambo Theatre in Toronto. With a rich history of hosting icons like The Rolling Stones, the venue became an integral part of the visual storytelling. Using RED Gemini and RED Komodo cameras, we created a warm, intimate aesthetic that paired perfectly with Raquel’s soulful sound. The dim lighting and vintage décor of the venue complemented her emotionally resonant performances, creating a captivating mix of nostalgia and modern artistry. Each frame was crafted to highlight both the charm of the space and Raquel’s powerful presence.

CLASH Magazine

CLASH Magazine catches up with Toosii, JELEEL!, Akademiks and more

Rolling Loud Miami 2022 represents a global stage for hip-hop, hosting both established names and rising talent. Our assignment with CLASH Magazine placed us backstage and in conversations that went beyond the music itself. We listened as Mozzy, Strick, and Cash Cobain discussed their influences, while Akademiks provided insights into the scene’s cultural shifts. JELEEL!’s take on performing at such a major platform and Tyla Yaweh’s reflections on moving from dreams to tangible achievements painted a fuller picture of the industry’s demands and rewards. Toosii shared perspectives on growth, pressure, and finding balance as an artist. Our coverage balanced direct, personal interviews with careful visual storytelling. We focused on capturing the essence of the festival’s environment, artists connecting with their peers, fans discovering new music, and an overall sense that hip-hop is constantly evolving. This approach aligned with MAFIC’s belief that effective storytelling goes beyond recaps, delving into the values and ambitions that shape a cultural movement.

A Fall/Winter 2024 story

When confronted with over 60 new looks to showcase in a single shoot, our aim wasn’t just to present clothing, it was to capture the mindset behind the collection. Each piece had a reason for being there, whether it offered a fresh take on denim, introduced unexpected pairings, or challenged traditional styling norms. Our approach involved thoughtful staging, lighting that emphasized texture and detail, and direction that encouraged models to move naturally, bringing the garments’ personalities to the forefront. The result was more than a lookbook; it was a cohesive visual story that reinforced the brand’s identity and values. Instead of treating each look as a standalone image, we wove them together, ensuring that viewers left with a clear impression of what the collection stood for. This perspective mirrors MAFIC’s broader philosophy: every piece of content is an opportunity to communicate purpose, vision, and atmosphere.
